Oppose Free Speech Restrictions

Christian Coalition of America supporters need to call the members of the House Judiciary Committee and urge them to oppose the Meehan Amendment to the so-called lobby reform bill, S.1, when it is voted on in the House Judiciary Committee on May 15th. Congressman Martin Meehan, D-MA, is sponsoring an amendment which will hurt all grassroots organizations and their supporters. The Meehan amendment would establish federal regulations over efforts by grassroots groups to motivate American citizens to communicate with their elected representatives about bills which could be voted on in the United States Congress.

Urge Senate Majority Leader to save AIDS diagnosis program

It is urgent that Christian Coalition of America supporters immediately contact Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to urge him to pull the language in the Continuing (Omnibus) Appropriations Bill, H. J. Res. 20, which cuts off funding (Section 20613 [b]) for the early diagnosis of babies with AIDS. Unless he deletes this onerous language, hundreds of babies will be in danger of dying and suffering from AIDS. The success of the Baby AIDS program is illustrated in the fact that the number of HIV-infected newborns dropped from 321 in 1990 to just five in 2003. Indeed, in 2004, former New York Governor George Pataki announced a 78% decline in infected newborns between 1997 and 2002.

Tell senators to maintain funding for our troops

The liberal leadership in the United States Senate is refusing to allow a vote on Senator Judd Gregg's Resolution which calls for support for our troops and ensures funding for our troops in Iraq. Instead, the liberal leadership in the Senate wants a vote only on the Resolution authored by Senator John Warner -- a Republican from Virginia -- which opposes President Bush's plan to increase troop numbers in Iraq.
