Capitol Hill Updates

  • New York Representative Anthony Weiner should immediately resign his office.  New York and the nation needs men and women in congress who are honest, forthright, and morally strong.  Congressman Weiner has failed his constituency and all americans with his outrageous lies and despicable behavior. The United States finds itself embroiled in many dangerous crises.  The times demand leadership that is honorable and highly principled to lead it through the tough challenges ahead.  Mr. Weiner forfeited his right to lead when he  compromised his high ...
  • The leader of the Republicans in the United States Senate, Senator Mitch McConnell from Kentucky, is imploring the Obama administration to get seriously involved in doing something about the debt crisis in America.  For example, today Senator McConnell said: "One recent study suggests that any nation which carries a public debt load at or above 90 percent of its economy loses one point of economic growth, which the administration’s own economists have said is equivalent to one million jobs. So why won’t they propose a serious plan to lower it?  When will the administration follow...
  • The Chairman of the House of Representatives' Republican Study Committee, Congressman Jim Jordan from Ohio, and a very strong bloc of conservative Republicans, are demanding that the Republican compromise  --   regarding the raising of the national debt ceiling  --  with Barack Obama and his Democrats in Congress, include a fiscally responsible plan to cut spending, to cap spending, and to balance the federal budget. As Congressman Jordan points out in his press release below, 47 Senators have signed-on to a Balanced Budget Amendment.  Supporters of Christian...
  • No president has been elected president with economic conditions as bad as they are now in America since Franklin Delano Roosevelt.  Indeed, no president with an unemployment rate of over 7.2% has been reelected president since Roosevelt.  Barack Obama's unemployment just went UP to 9.1% during the month of May and Obama's unemployment rate has averaged around 9% during his entire presidency.  The guy is toast. The Chairman of the House of Representatives' Republican Policy Committee, Congressman Tom Price, besides criticizing the Obama administration's dismal economic policies...
  • In a stunning rebuke of Barack Obama, who, as recently as a few weeks ago, had requested an up-or-down vote on raising the already-bloated national debt ceiling of $14.6 trillion by a whopping $2 trillion  --  which would get the president past his reelection campaign  --  the United States House of Representatives this evening voted by an overwhelming majority of 318 to 97 to reject the debt ceiling increase. Every single Republican voted against Obama's demand to raise the federal debt ceiling.  Indeed, Obama also lost almost half of his Democrats in the House....
  • The Republican-controlled House of Representatives will vote around 6 tonight to raise  --  or NOT  --  the debt ceiling by over 2 trillion dollars to a gargantuan $16 trillion of federal debt.  For Republicans, it is a DUH! moment.  It is a no-brainer vote.  A whopping 70% of Republicans in America do not want the debt ceiling raised under any condition. Some 8% of Republicans join a majority of Democrat voters in wanting the debt ceiling raised as Barack Obama wants.  Eliminating the undecided vote, a huge majority of Americans (47% to 19%) do not...
  • The leader of the Democrats in the Senate, Harry Reid from Nevada, continued his cynical political tactics yesterday to ensure his party maintains control of the Senate during next year's elections.  He forced every single one of his Democrats  --  and Socialist Bernard Sanders acquiesced  --  to vote against Barack Obama's budget for 2012 which includes at least a trillion dollars of tax increases.  Meanwhile, every single Democrat, except Senator Jim Webb (VA), voted against the responsible Republican budget to cut over $6 trillion from Obama's budget. ...
  • The contrast could not be more sharp.  Following Barack Obama's disgraceful attacks last week on Israel and his support for Palestinian policies which threaten to destroy Israel, Obama's opponents in the Republican Party have continued their long-time and very strong support for Israel, and most especially for its courageous Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu. For example, the Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell from Kentucky had these remarks about Israel and Prime Minister Netanyahu: “Israel is of course a great friend and an ally to the United States, and the Prime Minister...
  • After passing the worst piece of legislation in American history into law, ObamaCare, in the Democrat-controlled 111th Congress two years ago, the Obama administration is now granting thousands of waivers to its favorite supporters  --  many of them unions  --  to avoid having to abide by the onerous mandates of ObamaCare.  Indeed, it was reported just this week that the former Democrat Speaker of the House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, who almost single-handedly crammed ObamaCare down the throats of an unwilling American people, received a whopping 20% of the...
  • $3.93 per gallon of gasoline is not exactly a great way to begin the summer driving season beginning on Memorial Day.  If Democrats feel smug about the 6-cent decrease in the price of a gallon of gasoline recently, they shouldn't be.  If the price is above $2.50 per gallon by next year's election, Democrats will feel the price of gasoline at the polls.  It was a $1.83 per gallon when Barack Obama was inaugurated. The Republican Senate Leader, Mitch McConnell from Kentucky, blasted the Democrats yesterday for their lack of a real plan to do something about the gargantuan price...
